In a world that is growing exponentially because of globalization and technology, phrases like “there’s an app for that” are natural responses to a question. However, what good is the ability to purchase and download apps if they are not utilized fully for our own well-being? An outstanding program called “HealthCamp DC”, has sought to find a solution by looking at Vitality Through Data.

HealthCamp will take place Monday, June 4th as part of DC Health Data & Innovation Week. The website is unique in that it is completely transparent — it allows you to view all participants, suggest topics to be discussed and watch the schedule shift to participants’ preferences in a google.doc format.

The event will take place at Kaiser Permanente’s Center for Total Health at 700 2nd St, NE, Washington DC. Mayor Vincent Gray proclaimed June 2nd – 7th to be Health Data & Innovation Week in Washington DC.  The proclamation states “this week’s events encourage innovators to utilize health data to develop applications that raise awareness of health system performance and spark community action to improve health”.

HealthCamp promises to be an incredibly valuable experience, one that will not only kick-start the conversation about better medical innovation and finding solutions to common data related medical issues, but also provide ample opportunity for networking with other socially-engaged health care innovators. Disruptive Women is proud to support this event alongside Kaiser Permanente, Sapient, Surescripts and HealthCamp.

And, if that wasn’t enough excitement for you, immediately following HealthCamp, Disruptive Woman Regina Holliday will transform the Center for Total Health into #TheWalkingGallery — a “dynamic, live-art show”.

Tickets are still available for both Health Camp, we hope to see you there!
