Those of that love Ted gave him token status as a woman a long time ago. Odd how the he moment he joined KP he pretty much dropped off from the land of Social Media and then pops up again at conferences and floods the stream. His association at CCHIT and old lumbering vendors like Epic make me wonder about his credibility in health 2.0. Why for example doesn't Kaiser let people access their EMR after they leave or share data in Palo Alto with other Epic clients like PAMG?

He loves to gather and spout information but rarely actually does work as far as I can tell and we all know its all about Ted all the time so of course he loves the narcisstic world o Health 2.0 but where are the outcome studies? Its also nice to see he can actually listen instead of talking a 1000 words a minute. ;0

Thank you so much for the fantastic post! I am a huge believer in the power of Social Media to bring about positive change in health care. While there is (understandably) a great deal of trepidation that currently extists among the more established health organizations and companies (we won't be able to control our message, FDA hasn't provided clear guidance, what about the ROI), there is tremendous untapped potential. And many payors, patient groups, and providers are beginning to understand how this thing called Social Media can, when integrated as part of a larger outreach, education, and advocacy strategy, provide a cost-effective, valuable communication channel.
I really hope that with all the attention the East Coast folks (Congress, large HIT, EHR, EMR vendors) are paying to the stimulus package that they take time to look West--to those brave Health 2.0 entrepreneurs (many of whom, but not all of course, are located on the West Coast).
In my mind, we currently have a fairly flimsy bridge that connects East and West--we need to integrate the traditional with the new. With an organization like Kaiser taking a lead, I have a good feeling that others will follow.
I for one have already started to cross that bridge.
